Herkimer Softball Ends Spring Trip With Split
The Herkimer Softball team earned a split on the final day of their spring trip ,losing to nationally ranked Brookdale CC 17-9 and beating Region III opponent Alfred State 10-5.
The first game was a continuation of the day before which saw the Brookdale bats explode for 15 runs in the first two innings. The game was called due to time constraints after two complete and the Jersey Blues leading 15-3. When they picked the game back up in the top of the third, the Generals struck for 4 quick runs. But they would only tack on 2 more over the next few frames while holding Brookdale to only two runs over the next five innings.
In the final game of their trip, the Generals offense once again came alive as they pushed five runs across the plate through the first 4 innings. The attack was led by Sam Signor (2-3, rbi) and Krista Stubba (3-4, 2runs,rbi). Also, Emily Woudenberg and Kayla Ladd added a hit and 2rbi’s each. On the mound, Kayla Wallenhorst picked up her fourth victory of the trip going 6 innings, striking out 8, and giving up 1 ER on 4 hits.
The Generals improved to 4-4 on the season and open up their region/conference schedule this Sunday @ 1pm home vs. Clinton CC.
