Amy Dommer took over as an assistant coach for Herkimer softball starting with the 2010 season.  She served as Head Coach of the softball team from 2003-2009. Dommer transformed the HCCC softball program back into a regional contender. In 2006, the team competed in the Region III tournament and was the Mountain Valley Conference co-championship team, finishing the season with a 24-5 record. In 2005, Dommer was selected Mountain Valley Coach of the Year.

She is also HCCC’s head soccer coach.  In that capacity, Coach Dommer has three times been named Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year (2002, 2003 and 2004). She has also been named Region III Coach of the Year and National Soccer Coaches Association of America North Region Coach of the Year twice in 2005 and 2009. Coach Dommer is also the President of the Region IV Division 3 Women’s Soccer Coaches Association. She is also the secretary of the NJCAA Women’s Soccer Coaches Association.

Dommer is a native of Newport, NY.  She was a standout athlete at West Canada Valley High School and at Canisius College, Buffalo, where she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in physical education. In addition to coaching, she is an instructor of physical education at HCCC.  She lives in Herkimer with her husband, Rich.
