REGION III CHAMPIONSHIPS
1996, 1998
The 2009-2010 season was Head Coach PJ Anadio's first year at the helm of the Herkimer Generals softball program. Anadio built upon a winning program based on core fundamentals of dedication, discipline, hard work, and intensity, with an emphasis on building tradition and creating a "family" atmosphere.
Herkimer Softball offers an opportunity to begin one's college education and play softball in a program that promises maximum exposure to four-year universities and an immediate chance to play in one's freshman year. The program is set up as a three-part season. First, we play about 20 games in the fall versus other NJCAA and NCAA schools. When fall ball is complete, usually mid-October, we begin our strength and conditioning program that lasts right up until a week prior to final exams. This allows our student-athletes the necessary time to prepare and be successful in the classroom and on the field. When students return from winter break, we start practice right away in our indoor facilities to prepare for our spring training trip to Myrtle Beach, where we play teams from many states. After that, we return home to begin our 30-game regular season here in NY. Our home field has received recent renovations that make it one of the best in the country.
Our style of play is an aggressive, fun and up-tempo style in which we make things happen, rather than waiting for things to happen. We try to dictate how the game is being played on a game-to-game basis and work to manufacture runs. We work to create a perfect combination of skill, speed and power with our athletes. On the mound, we preach consistency and mental toughness with a never-give-in mindset while defensively we teach anticipation and instill a no fear, "web gem," go get it attitude.
Prior to taking over the program, Anadio served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Herkimer baseball program. The past four years have been very successful as the baseball program became a national competitor. During that stretch, Herkimer went 112-32 with four straight Regional Final Four appearances, including two World Series trips. We also received two Academic All-American Team of the Year Awards. Our goal in softball is to reach those same heights but with a National Championship to go along with it.
Herkimer County Community College is a member of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Region III (Region III is comprised of 29 member institutions, making it one of the largest regions within the NJCAA), and the Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference. The NJCAA is the national governing body for two-year college athletics, with over 475 member colleges throughout the United States.

SOFTBALL FIELD
During the summer of 2009, the Herkimer Generals softball field received a complete makeover making it one of the top venues in the region.
The stone dust infield was replaced by a beautiful and vibrant clay mixture while being outlined by new, pristine sod, giving it a "halo-effect". Warning tracks were cut out along the fence lines all the way around the field and filled with black stone dust. Four-foot fences were put up in front of each dugout to ensure safety while getting players and coaches closer to the action on the field.
A new, large scoreboard was installed behind the right field fence in 2010.
The Generals' field truly is one of the best places to catch a game, whether you are playing or cheering.
