Swim teams host winter meet, set records

Herkimer, NY – The aquatic Generals hosted their winter meet on Saturday. Emily Washburn and Sylvia Ross set school records, and several swimmers set personal records.

Five colleges sent men’s teams to the meet and six schools sent women’s squads. The Lady Generals finished commendably in second place. The men finished fifth.

Emily Washburn set a new Herkimer record of 1:07.46, breaking her old record, in the 100 yard backstroke.
Sylvia Ross set a new Herkimer 1 meter diving record for 11 dives with a score of 336.98.
Sarah Ledwith swam her personal best time in the 1650 yard freestyle, shaving 44 seconds off her previous best time. Ledwith also swam a personal best time in the 500 yard freestyle, paring eight seconds off her previous best.

Katelyn Egnaczyk qualified for nationals in the 100 yard freestyle.
On the men’s side, Nick Streeter qualified for nationals in the 100 yard backstroke with a personal best time.
Luciano Reyes swam personal best times in the 200 yard, 50 yard and 100 yard freestyle events.
Bryan Jester swam a personal best time in the 200 yard freestyle.
Creighton Joscelyn swam a personal best time in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard breaststroke.
