Region III Heptathlon and Decathlon Results For Herkimer Track and Field
Herkimer College Track team traveled to Delhi for the Multi-event which is the first part of our Regional meet. The meet picks up on this Friday and Saturday back in Delhi. Below is how the Herkimer athletes finished.
Heptathlon: Decathlon
1st Jenifer Lighthall 3320 points 7th Scott Vanderkrake 4260 points

Women:
Justin Ward jumped a personal best in the high jump 1.57m which is approximately 5' 2" despite the rain. Jen lighthall had a solid 2 day competition even though she did not turn in any personal bests. Jen is currently seeded #1 in the NJCAA Division 3 National Rankings. Freshman Mollianne Parson and Melissa McGough held their own despite competing in several events for the first time. Three of the girls may continue on to compete in this event at the National meet next week in Maryland. The top 16 in NJCAA Division III are chosen.
Men:
Scott Vanderkrake also a newcomer to the decathlon did an outstanding job. The most impressive achievement for scott was in the pole vault. Scott jumped 3.03m and qualified for the Regional meet in this event. This was the first time that Scott had pole vaulted. Scott may also be chosen to compete at the National meet if his score is in the top 16.
