2011 HCCC Graduate to Compete in U.S. Paralympics
Herkimer, NY—Herkimer County Community College graduate Mary Katherine ("Katie") Maneen ‘11, Frankfort, will compete next week in the U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships. The meet will take place June 17-19 at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida. The event is International Paralympic Committee (IPC) approved and will serve as the selection meet for the 2011 Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Maneen’s disability class will be determined on June 15, and she’ll compete on Friday, June 17 in the preliminary 200 meter race at 10:10 am and in the final at 7:06 pm. She also will complete on Saturday, June 18 in the 100 meter preliminary race at 11:40 am and the final at 6:55 pm.
Maneen was a member of HCCC’s 2010 national championship Women’s Track and Field team and captain of the 2011 team. She competed in the 100, 200 and javelin events. Maneen graduated from HCCC in May with an associate degree in Communication Arts: New Media.
