Herkimer Men and Women compete in NJCAA Track and Field National Championships
Wellsville, NY - The Herkimer Generals Men's and Women's Track and Field teams competed in the 2011 NJCAA Division III National Championships at Alfred State College in Wellsville, NY. The women, who won the National Championship in 2010, finished in sixth place. The men obtained their highest place in the National meet under veteran coach Sharon Howell, earning a ninth place finish in the meet.
On the women's side, Melissa McGough (Remsen) finished 3rd in the 800m and the pole vault. She was also a member of 3200m relay team that also earned a 3rd place finish. Carrin LaCoppola from Little Falls placed 8th in the 10,000m race to pick up more points for the Generals.
The men's team was paced by Andrew Gregg, who finished 2nd in the 400IH race and set a school record in the process. Andrew also placed 7th in the 400m race and was a member of the the 400m and 3200m relay teams that finished 6th and 8th respectively. Andrew's efforts earned him a spot on the NJCAA All American 2nd team. Alex Benoit (Ilion) added points for the Generals, finishing 6th in the discus and 9th in the shotput competition.

3200m relay: Andrew Gregg, Joshua Sheldon, Jeff Jermeus, and Joshua Wilcox
Mike Reilly: 6th on 110H and 5th in Triple Jump
Nate Pickett: 3rd in 110H and 5th in Long Jump
Joshua Sheldon: 7th in 5000m
Joshua Wilcox: 6th in 3000m SC
Domonique Thompson: 8th in the Triple Jump
Women: 400m relay: Amanda Brown, Mollianne Parsons, Samantha Lawson, and Melissa McGough
1600m Relay: Melissa McGough, Tiffany Campanian, Amanda Brown, and Mollianne Parsons
3200m relay: Melissa McGough, Melissa Wagner, Samantha Lawson, and Mollianne Parsons
Michele Cuomo: 3rd in Discus
Brittany Latham: 5th in shot, 7th in discus, and 7th in hammer
Hannah Benjamin: Tied for 7th in High Jump
