Sharon Howell began as the Head Coach of the Generals Track & Field program in 1983. Howell's women's teams have captured five Regional Championships during her tenure (1982, 2001, 2002, 2008, 2010), finished as the National runner-up in 2001 and National Champions in 2008 and 2010. Howell has produced eight individual National Champions as well.

A 1979 graduate of HCCC where she was a track & field All-American, Howell transferred on a volleyball and track scholarship to the University of Rhode Island where she set school records in the high jump and long jump.

An Associate Professor of Physical Education at HCCC, Howell earned her Master's Degree from Cortland State in 1986. She was the 2001 & 2003 NJCAA Track & Field Coach of the Year and 2008 and 2010 Coach of the Meet. She was also the 1982, 2001, 2008, and 2010 Regional Coach of the Year.  Howell resides in Ilion with her husband Bill and children Amanda and Sharon.

Julie DelMedico has served as the head coach for cross country since 2006. A graduate of Sauquoit Valley High School (2002), DelMedico was a four-sport varsity athlete participating in cross country, soccer, basketball and track and field. She went on to play basketball at SUNY Geneseo.

DelMedico has also served as the assistant coach for HCCC's track and field teams since 2006.  Under her guidance, DelMedico has helped develop an individual national champion: Sarah Lazarus, in the 800 and 1,500 meter races (2007).  In 2008, she helped coach the women's track and field team to Regional and National Championships, including two individual champions: Amanda Davy - 400 Hurdles, and Chantal Salamone - 100 Hurdles. In 2010 women’s track and field found success again, winning their second Regional and National titles in three years, at which time DelMedico was named female assistant coach of the year.

DelMedico holds a B.A. from SUNY Geneseo and is currently working toward a master's degree at SUNYIT. In addition to her coaching duties, she is employed as a technical assistant in the College's fitness center and is an adjunct professor in sociology, psychology and non-majors' physical education.
