Herkimer Women's Lacrosse beats Mohawk Valley 17-11

Herkimer, NY - The Herkimer Generals scored the last three goals of the game to pull away from Mohawk Valley as they beat the Hawks for the second time this year by a score of 17-11. With the win, Herkimer improves to 7-5 overall and a 7-2 record in Region III play.

Katie McGovern led the offense with six goals on the afternoon. Danielle Hulslander had four goals and Katie Monahan and Michelle Varney each added three goals apiece. Marissa Mowers also had a goal to complete the scoring for the Generals.

Bethany Jennings had an amazing game in goal for Herkimer, making 20 saves on the afternoon, many at point blank range. Jennings was helped out by strong defensive performances from Courtney Hibbard and Kassie Gonyea.

The win clinches a Region III playoff spot for the Generals. They have gained the # 3 seed in the upcoming Region III Women's Lacrosse Final Four that will be played this weekend at Herkimer County Community College. Herkimer will take on # 2 seed Onondaga Community College at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 7th in the second regional semifinal. # 4 seed Mohawk Valley will take on top seed Monroe Community College at 9:00 AM on Saturday.
