Herkimer Women's Soccer Wins Fourth Straight; Roll Over Cougars On The Road
The Herkimer women's soccer team was on the road again today at Plattsburg State, where they faced Region III rival Clinton CC. THe Generals came away with their fourth straight victory to remain undefeated. Senior Maria Scerra began the scoring when she collected a pass from Daci Walker, beat a defender and the goalie to net the only goal in the first half. At the 73 minute mark, freshman Ashleigh Tracy added to the lead as she netted a shot from outside the 18 over the goalie's hands unassisted. About a minute later, Tracy assisted Scerra in her second goal of the night, making the final score 3-0. Amber Swanston and Chelseas Hayes both saw time in the net for the Generals and combined for 3 saves. The tough defensive play by Sam Signor, Melissa McGough and Justine Ward also helped limit the amount of shots take by Clinton CC. The Lady Generals will be back in action at home on Tuesday against Jefferson CC at 7 pm.
