Herkimer Women's Soccer Topples #1 Ranked Hornets On The Road; Scerra Scores Goal

This afternoon on the road the Herkimer Generals women's soccer team upended the NJCAA #1 ranked Broome Hornets by a score of 1-0.  This win keeps the Generals undefeated and moves them to 7-0 on the season.  Both teams played a scoreless, fast paced first have with excellent play by both goalies.  Going into the second half, the tremendous effort by Herkimer's defense and midfield allowed Ashleigh Tracy to take control of the ball and feed Maria Scerra.  Scerra touched the ball around her defender and had a break away on goal. The keeper came out off her line and Scerra chipped it overtop of her hands to put Herkimer on the board.  The final 15 minutes of the game was back and forth and the Lady Generals hung on to beat the top seeded team in the nation. Herkimer is now 7-0-0 overall and will be on the road again this Thursday to face another tough Region III team in Finger Lakes CC.
