Lady Generals Shut Out Cougars
The Herkimer CCC women’s soccer team outplayed a stubborn Clinton Cougars team 2-0 on a very windy afternoon. Krista Stubba scored both goals in a game that was truly a team effort.
The Lady Generals dominated the first half, but could only score once in that session. The second half featured more midfield play, but the hard-working Generals proved that they were the stronger side.
The outcome was in doubt until late in the game. Clinton mounted three strong attacks in the second half, but the Herkimer defense, including Amanda Peek, a veteran midfielder who was playing her first game at fullback, cut off those attacks.
With 4:20 left to play, quick and scrappy Kierra Mack got the ball to Amanda Brown, who found Krista Stubba open. Stubba quickly netted her second tally of the game.
