The National Junior College Athletic Association has announced that Herkimer County Community College volleyball player Kelsey Gates has been named a Second Team All American.

Marissa Mowers – Women’s Volleyball – Green & Gold Athlete for October
Marissa Mowers is an outstanding athlete who played a major role in leading the Generals to the Region III Championship. She has excellent jumping ability and excellent tactical sense. She is also adept at both power shots and finesse shots. Mowers is a freshman from Dolgeville, NY. She plays all around the court and did not miss a minute of action all season. Marissa’s quick defense and attack at the net make it easy for the Generals to score points.

HCCC’s women’s volleyball team is in training for the national championship tournament to be played Nov. 12 and 13 in Rochester, Minnesota. The brackets have been announced.

The Herkimer County Community College women’s volleyball team is the #6 seed in the Division III National Championship Volleyball Tournament. They will play Rock Valley College (Illinois) in Rochester, Minnesota.

Men’s Soccer and Women’s Volleyball both win Regional Championships Today
[Updated] The women’s volleyball team won a tense, five-set match v. Onondaga, 3-2, in Corning, and the men’s soccer team defeated Tompkins-Cortland 3-1 at Wehrum Stadium in Herkimer to win their Region III crowns.

HCCC’s women’s volleyball team lost three very close sets to an excellent SUNY Delhi team. The Lady Broncos had a well-rounded attack and a solid defense that the Herkimer squad almost, but not quite, matched.

The volleyball Generals avenged an earlier tournament loss to Onondaga by outplaying the visiting Lady Lazers, wining three sets to one. Herkimer’s record is now 21-11.

The Herkimer women’s volleyball team played in the Corning tournament today. The Lady Generals won one match and narrowly lost three. Their season record is now 20-11.

SUNY Adirondack’s Timberwolves traveled to Herkimer for a tense conference showdown, and the Lady Generals topped them 3-1. The ‘Wolves had bettered the Generals in tournament play early in the season, but the improved Herkimer side prevailed today.
