Volleyball honors for HCCC’s Mowers

Herkimer, NY— Herkimer County Community College volleyball player Marissa Mowers, a senior from Dolgeville, was named on the Third Team All-Region and to the All-Conference team. The Herkimer Generals wrapped up their 2011 season with a strong showing at the Mountain Valley Conference Championships in Delhi, NY where Mowers led the Generals with 21 kills, 54 digs and 6 aces on the day.

Mowers is ranked sixth in the nation for digs with 522 for the season and an average of 5.5 digs per set. She also had 187 kills and 39 aces for the season.

Head coach Kristy Lynch said, “Marissa is an unbelievable athlete and can adjust to any situation. Her speed and ability to read the ball is phenomenal.”

Herkimer finished the season with a record of 8-20.
