Herkimer Cross Country Set Many Personal Records At Hamilton Meet
Racing against some pretty stiff competition, Herkimer Cross Country withstood the challenge and answered back with some PRs - among them freshman standout Mollianne Parsons. Molly completed the 5K course breaking 21 minutes for the first time this season. Her 56th place finished earned her a 20:48 - averaging 6:42 miles. Teammates Melissa Wagner and Stephanie Bergstrom also had performed season's bests in 22:45 (7:20/mile) and 22:54 (7:23/mile). Despite the cold, rainy conditions Serena Sweeney and Emmalee Kelting also competed well running 24:26 (7:52/mile) and 27:12 (8:46/mile) respectively.
The men were equally as successful - having all seven competitors running the race with their fastest paces yet this season. The team was led by veteran Eric Green. Green ran the 5 mile course in a time of 31:46 earning him a 6:24 mile pace. Freshman Sheldon Johnson scored next for the General's finishing the race in 33:46 (6:48), followed by freshman Jacob Witter who finished in a time of 35:34 (7:10). These two will undoubtedly be standouts for next season. Next to come in was sophomore TJ Gollegly in a time of 36:40 (7:23), followed by Corey Grayson, Ryan Butler, and Tyler Campbell running times of 40:37 (8:11/mile), 41:54 (8:26/mile) and 42:03 (8:28/mile) respectively.
The General's squad's next race will be the ultra competitive Mountain Valley Conference Championships hosted by Mohawk Valley. The race is Saturday, October 24th at Proctor Park in Utica. Race time is 10:00 am.
