Generals host Conference Cross Country Meet

Herkimer, NY – Herkimer County Community College hosted the Mountain Valley Conference Cross Country Meet on Saturday morning.  Both the HCCC men’s and women’s teams ran to fourth-place finishes.

A light rain fell prior to and at the beginning of the men’s race, making the footing a bit trickier than usual.  Still, all runners seemed to adapt to it.

Five colleges competed in the men’s event:  Delhi, Herkimer, Hudson Valley, Mohawk Valley, and North Country.  A sixth school, Columbia-Greene, also competed in the women’s race.  In all, about 75 runners competed.

Mohawk Valley won the men’s conference crown by one point.  The Hawks’ narrow win put them ahead of the Broncos of SUNY Delhi.

Herkimer’s men were led by Michael Elleman.  The second-year harrier finished in eighth place (23:41.1), just one place shy of All-Conference honors.

The Lady Generals were led by Samantha Lawson.  The senior runner finished in 11th place (23:37.1).
