Herkimer Cross Country competes in Utica's Falling Leaves Road Race

Utica, NY - The Herkimer Generals Men's and Women's Cross Country teams had a very successful showing at the Falling Leaves Road Race that was held on Sunday in Utica, NY. The highlight of the day was Sophomore Mike Elleman (New Madison, Ohio) winning the 5K race with a time of 17:06 and needing a photo finish to confirm his win.

Other results from the men's side included Josh Wilcox (Watertown) finishing 10th overall with a time of 18:37 and Andrew Gregg (Homer) running a time of 19:11 to finish 15th. Chad Knapp (Homer) and Khaaliq Evans (Uniondale) rounded out Herkimer's effort on the men's side by running times of 23:15 and 25:32 respectively.

Samantha Lawson (Liverpool) once again paced the Herkimer Women's team with a time of 21:59 and finishing 58th overall, 1st in her age group. Nicole Yerina (Little Falls) ran her fastest time of the season, with a mark of 24:37, which resulted in a finish of 137th overall.

The Generals take this weekend off from running to participate in the HCCC Breast Cancer walk that takes place on Saturday, October 1 on the HCCC Campus. Their next race is Wednesday, October 5th at SUNY Delhi at 4:00 p.m.
