Solid guard play not enough against Hawks

UTICA, NY – Despite a combined 37 points from Emily Rexford (Canton, NY), Shi Williams (Syracuse, NY) and Raven Griffin (Syracuse, NY), the Herkimer Women's basketball team lost to Mohawk Valley Community College 90-54 Wednesday night.

Another slow start got the Generals in a pinch early, trailing 52-29 at half. Solid play in the second half got the team closer, but it was too much of a deficit to come back from.

The high scorer for Herkimer was Rexford with 17 points. She also added two rebounds, one assist and three steals to her totals. Williams was behind Rexford with 12 points. She also added five rebounds, two assists and three steals to her 36 minutes of play. Griffin scored eight points, grabbed two rebounds and had one assist.

Other scorers for the Lady Generals were Kaylyn Dickerson (Douglasville, GA), Samatha Randio (Ravena, NY), Alyssa Craig (Fonda, NY) and Korey Bunal (Rome, NY). Dickerson had five points, Randio had six points, Craig had two points and Bunal had four points.

The team's next game is two days away on Saturday (11/16). The Lady Generals will host their second home game, this time to Hudson Valley. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
