Lady Generals sting Hornets 59-34

Herkimer, NY – The Generals had their offense in gear early and went on to post a convincing 59-34 win over the visiting Hornets of Broome CC on Thursday evening. The Generals' early barrage was so strong that they scored 11 points before the visitors got on the scoreboard.

The game began with freshman center Victoria Seabrooks winning the jump – this time right-handed. The team attacked. Whitney Brown pulled down an offensive rebound and scored. Brown was fouled, so she turned it into a three-point play.

Brown hit two long field goals, and the Generals led 9-0. Samantha Randio then sent a crisp pass to Allie Webb who sank a layup, and it was 11-0 Herkimer.

Herkimer was playing well. They denied the Hornets rebounds, and they were moving the ball well on offense. Alexia Brown drained a three from the right corner. Ariel Travis hit for two while being fouled. Shileeka Williams and Chelsey Friend scored in the paint. At halftime the Generals led 29-12.

Head Coach Brad Gouger's squad kept up the good play in the second half. Alyssa Craig sank a free throw, then a field goal, and then a three. Whitney Brown sank four free throws in a row. Craig sent Williams on a scoring breakaway. Kayla Guidi scored from the line and from the floor to end the game. The final score was 59-34.

The squad will play again on Saturday when they host the North Country Saints at 1:00 p.m. They will then have 12 days without a game as the team breaks for Thanksgiving.
