Monroe Tribunes top Generals

Rochester, NY – Monroe CC's Division-I Lady Tribunes proved too strong for the Herkimer women's team on Sunday afternoon. Monroe won easily, 94-44. The halftime score saw the Generals trailing by only nine, at 38-29, but Monroe broke the game open in the second half.

The game was the Generals' only large loss of the season so far. The Herkimer Five have won nine games and lost only three – a fine record by any standard. Now they will carry that 9-3 mark into the holiday break. Their season will resume on January 8 with a trip north to Clinton CC.

Whitney Brown and Aniya Webb each scored 10 points against the Tribunes. Victoria Seabrooks added nine. Webb had a big weekend, with 24 points over the two games played on Saturday and Sunday.

Brown is the team's top scorer going into the break. The talented guard averaged 14.9 points per game (ppg) for the first 12 games. The team's three next-highest scorers have nearly even numbers. Seabrooks produced 8.4 ppg, while Samantha Randio and Shileeka Williams tallied 7.9 and 7.8 respectively.

The production from those four bodes well for the remainder of the season and for the future. They are all freshmen. The team is also getting good contributions from other first- and second-year players.

In all, the team is off to its best start in recent years, and the rest of the season looks promising.
