Marston does well in all events, named All-Region member

UTICA, NY – Finishing their third match of the week at AMF Pin-O-Rama Sunday (2/22), the host for the 2015 Region III Championship, the Herkimer Generals saw that practice pay off for Trevor Marston (Georgetown, NY), earning a spot on the All-Region Team, collecting 1596 pins between singles and doubles.

Marston, a sophomore, bowled a 781 with a game-high 210 in singles, then paired up with Marshall Sterling (Mohawk, NY), adding 815 for a 1596 total, good enough for sixth place overall.

The closest Generals to Marston overall were Jena Soper (Harrisville, NY), Selena Barber (Mayfield, NY) and Ronnie Hines (South Otselic, NY). Soper finished 22nd in all events, bowling a 613 (146, 165, 151, 151) in singles and 683 in doubles, pairing with Ashley Salisbury (Sherrill, NY) for a 1275. Barber totaled 1256, which was good enough for 26th overall, knocking down 684 (174, 185, 190, 135) in singles and 572 in doubles with Destiny LeRoy (Sodus, NY). Both Barber and LeRoy combining for 1100 in doubles, good enough for 17th place. Finally, Hines bowled a 699 (177, 163, 191, 168) which was ninth best amongst the women in singles, then finished with a 536 in doubles, pairing with Alysha Buck (Syracuse, NY) for a 1089. Hines finished 28th in all events.

Other standouts in singles were the previously mentioned Buck, Eric Arthur (Remsen, NY) and Stephen Cross (Ilion, NY). Buck placed 23rd with a 647 (156, 161, 178, 152), Arthur finished 37th with a 682 (188, 158, 156, 180) and Cross finished 50th with a 604 (154, 141, 171, 138).

Up next for Herkimer is nationals. The NJCAA National Bowling Championship is at AMF Thruway Lanes in Cheektoaga, NY from Friday, March 6th to Saturday, March 7th. Competition is scheduled to start each day at 8 a.m.
