Men and women second in conference after Schenectady tournament

SCHENECTADY, NY – The Herkimer Generals bowling program traveled to Schenectady on Wednesday (1/20) and in the first of three conference events the men and women are in second place in the Mountain Valley Conference standings.

Matt Gladstone (Norwich, NY) led the men's team to a 5-3 record and stands in first place in the conference with his 244.67 average. Ean Hayner (Kingston, NY) stands in 16th place with his 199.83 average, Brendon Budd (Norwich, NY) is in 18th place with a 198.50 average, Marshall Sterling (Mohawk, NY) is in 26th place with a 188.83, Hunter Guest (Middleburgh, NY) in 33rd with a 184.17 average and Stephen Cross (Ilion, NY) stands in 38th with a 153.17 average.

The women are currently tied for second place with Hudson Valley, both yielding a 1-3 record after the first conference event. They bowled well for five of the six games, not doing as well in the fifth game, costing them a better showing. Korena Kinney (Taberg, NY) led Herkimer and stands in sixth place in the conference with her 186.00 average. Megan Durgan (Rome, NY) stands in seventh place with her 184.33 average, Molly McGuire (Solvay, NY) holds the 10th spot with her 179 average, Alysha Buck (Syracuse, NY) stands in 12th with her 178 average and Ashley Salisbury (Sherrill, NY) stands right behind her in 13th with her 175.33 average.

The squad returns to the alleys next Friday (1/29). They’ll travel to Utica, NY for another conference match at AMF Pin-O-Rama. Competition is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
