Herkimer on cruise control at Steven Warde Invitational

COBLESKILL, NY – After a solid start to the season, Herkimer rode that momentum into the 2013 Steven Warde Invitational Saturday (9/7) against SUNY Cobleskill. The Fighting Tigers prevailed over the Generals, but Herkimer improved over their performance at SUNY IT (8/31) a week ago.

The Generals had four runners finish in the top 30. A top that list was Victoria Campanian (Glenfield, NY). Campanian finished third overall for the women (19:14), seeing Utica's Ashton Villeneuve (Holland Patent, NY) and Katie Day (Whitesboro, NY) finish before her.

"Victoria is continuing to improve every day, I'm excited to see how she progresses through the season," Women's Head Coach Julie DelMedico said. "Finishing ahead of all the junior colleges is a feat in itself."

Sam Morrett (Cohoes, NY), Brandon Rawson (Ilion, NY) and Erick Febus (Hannibal, NY) were the

Generals other notable finishers. Morrett finished 21st (31:15), Rawson finished 22nd (31:16) and Febus finished 27th (32:08) for the men.

"Our men finished just behind three regional power houses in SUNY Delhi, Mohawk Valley and Broome Community College," added DelMedico. "I'm pleased with their effort."

Rounding out the women attack was Tianderah Twichell (43rd; 24:00), Ashley Dennis (50th; 26:09), Renee Hamilton (53rd; 26:44),Dayonna Williams (62nd; 32:15) and Amecca Galloway (64th; 33:40).

For the men, their final three finishers were Philip Tanner (Deposit, NY), David Stanley (Bronx, NY) and DaQuan Corbitt (Central Islip, NY). Tanner finished 63rd (41:15), Stanley finished 68th (47:43) and Corbitt finished 70th (50:26).
