Campanian runs her way to All-American status

NORTHFIELD, MA – In the 2013 NJCAA Cross Country Championship at Holyoke Community College on Saturday (11/9), the Herkimer Generals had one runner earn All American honors. That was freshman Victoria Campanian (Glenfield, NY), finishing sixth overall.

Campanian, a Mountain Valley Conference and Regional winner this season, capped off her final run in 21:07, less than a second from another Top 5 finish which would've been her eighth this season. Known as Tori by her coaches, she had four first-place finishes this season, all around the sub-20 mark.

Other women running in the National Championship were Tianderah Twichell (West Winfield, NY), Dayonna Williams (Bronx, NY) Alicia Burnett (Old Forge, NY), Ashley Dennis (Cooperstown, NY) and Renee Hamilton. Twichell finished 57th (24:54), Williams finished 61st(25:18), Burnett finished 71st (26:14), Dennis finished 77th (26:36) and Hamilton finished 84th (27:28). Together their times helped the Lady Generals finish eighth as a team.

As for the men, they had seven runners participate in the 8K race. Their top runner, who was also a Mountain Valley Conference and Regional winner this season, Sam Morrett (Cohoes, NY) came up short for All-American honors finishing 32nd at Northfield Mountain Recreation Center. Morrett finished in 29:54. Finishing after Morrett was Brandon Rawson (Ilion, NY), Yuta Shinohara (Hiratsuka, Japan), Ashanti Davis (East Greenbush, NY), Erick Febus (Hannibal, NY), Rony LeRouge (Walton, NY) and Philip Tanner (Deposit, NY). Rawson finished 46th (30:53), Shinohara finished 52nd (31:06), Davis finished 85th (32:17), Febus finished 91st (32:44), LeRouge finished 114th (36:20) and Tanner finished 117th (36:34). Together their times gave the team a 10th place finish as a team.
