#3 Herkimer holds off Onondaga to win 1-0

The Herkimer Generals held the Onondaga Lazers scoreless on the Region III match up Thursday afternoon (9/1).  Herkimer goalkeeper #1 Honesti Crochran played a significant role in this win, saving four shots including a penalty kick by Onondaga’s #10 Natalie O'Brien.

#13 Mikayla Blumenstock scored the only goal necessary for the Generals in the first half, assisted by midfielder #10 Grace Johnson.  Head Coach Jason Palkovic also spoke highly of the performance of midfielders #15 Hannah Taylor, #10 Grace Johnson, #11 Danielle Charland, #7 Jenna Rogers, #6 Alexys Bolton, and #2 Alexis Ramos.

“The midfielders did well controlling the tempo of the game,” says Palkovic. “Defensively the backs, did well limiting the chances for Onondaga. It was a complete team effort today.”

Herkimer Generals now turn their focus towards next Wednesday (9/7) as they host SUNY Adirondack at 4:30pm.
