Generals win 4-1 over FLCC in regular season finale
Herkimer, N.Y. - The Herkimer Generals Women’s Soccer Team wrapped up the regular season on Tuesday vs Finger Lakes with a 4-1 win. The #1 nationally ranked Generals got on the board 13 minutes into the contest as Hailey Couchman (Baldwinsville, NY) would find Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY) for the early 1-0 lead. Two minutes later Blumenstock would be the set up person finding Sarah George (Dolgeville, NY) for her first of two goals on the night. A Hailey Couchman corner would provide Harringtonm (Munnsville, NY) the opportunity to make it a 3-0 halftime lead. After the break, Couchman would set up George for her second. Finger Lakes Stephany McBride would add a consolation goal for a 4-1 final. Rachel Todd (McGraw, NY) and Honesti Crochran (Wingdale, NY) each registered a couple saves on the night.
Head Coach Jason Palkovic was pleased with his teams efforts after the game, “It is tough to finish when teams have 8 defenders in the box. We had 20 corners and 30 shots on the night. The Finger Lakes keeper played well but in the end we got the job done and get results. Palkovic continued, We finished a good regular season but now we throw records out the window and get ready for the fun time of year." The Generals will find out who their playoff opponent will be this Sunday. As of now the game will be home on Thursday October 26th at 3:30.
