Lady Generals never stop attacking against FMCC

HERKIMER, NY – Keeping their foot on the peddle, Herkimer Women's Soccer raced past Fulton Montgomery 3-0 Wednesday afternoon at Wehrum Stadium. Leading the way for the Lady Generals was Danielle Nicosia (Oneonta, NY), Kayla Guidi (Herkimer, NY), Jessica Williamson (Mexico, NY) and Kalli Warmingham (Newport, NY).

Herkimer (4-1-1) came out determined on offense in the first half. After three shots-on-goal, the fourth made it in the net when Warmingham found Nicosia in the 28th minute. Warmingham lead Nicosia from the left side of the net, crossing it across to midfield where Nicosia took care of business, past a couple of Raiders defenders and into the back of the net.

The determination didn't stop there, seeing Herkimer accumulate 10 shots-on-goal by the end of the first half.

The same intensity ensued in the second half, as Herkimer seemed to be on every ball Fulton Montgomery kicked. Amassing seven more shots-on-goal by the 52nd minute, the teams 18th found the net again after Warmingham lead another teammate with a solid pass for the goal, her second assist in the game. The recipient this time was Williamson, in the 53rd minute to give Herkimer a 2-0 lead.

Tallying the final goal in the 64th minute was Guidi. After dribbling through a couple defenders, on her way to the left side of the post, Guidi kicked it to the opposite side of the net (right side) over the outstretched arms of the Raider goalie, giving her team a three point lead 3-0.

Defending the goal for Herkimer was Kristi Bills (Northville, NY). With her team keeping it in their offensive territory for most of the afternoon, Bills didn't have many opportunities. She ended the game with one save.

Herkimer will ride their two-game win streak into Clinton Sunday (9/22). The Generals will take on the Cougars at 2 p.m. It will be the start of four consecutive away games for Herkimer. Their next home game won't be until the first week of October when they host Broome Community College.
