Herkimer College’s Jackie Gardner Commits to Mercyhurst University
Herkimer, NY— Herkimer College sophomore Jackie Gardner, of Syracuse, NY, recently signed a letter of intent to play softball for Division II Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA. Gardner had a solid freshman season for the Generals last year, helping them to a 46-7 record, Mountain Valley Conference and Region III championships, and an NJCAA Division III national runner-up finish. Gardner saw time in the circle for Herkimer, as well as at first base and designated player.
“We are extremely proud and excited for Jackie, her family and for the Laker softball program,” said Herkimer Head Coach PJ Anadio. “They are not only getting a very talented softball player, but they are also getting a very talented student, a great leader and an incredible person to represent their program. Jackie has been an amazing ambassador of the game, our program and this college the past two years. We are extremely happy for the entire Gardner family!”
Mercyhurst Head Coach Leanne Baker said, “We are so lucky and grateful that Jackie has decided to make Mercyhurst her home for the remainder of her college career. Jackie is a great student, player and a better person. She will truly make us a better program, and I’m thrilled for her and for us. It’s a great day to be a Laker!”
Gardner will join Mercyhurst in the fall of 2017.
