Generals sign 8 high school seniors to National Letters of Intent

Herkimer, N.Y. 

Herkimer College head softball coach PJ Anadio has announced the signing of eight high school seniors to National Letters of Intent who will arrive on campus next fall.

 

Joining the Generals next fall will be;  outfielder Briana Hoskins from Washington Township High School, Washington Township, NJ, infielder Mariah Galletta from Oswego High School, Oswego, NY, catcher Alyssa Bolcato from Irondequoit High School, Rochester, NY,  infielder Vanessa Racht from Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, Selkirk, New York,  catcher Olivia Kincanon from Lancaster Central High School, Lancaster, NY, utility Shelby Koralewski from New Haven High School, Chesterfield, Michigan, utility Ashley Smith from Maryvale High School, Cheektowaga NY and utility Lauren Horowitz from Washingtonville High School, Rock Tavern, New York.

When asked about this group of young ladies, Anadio offered the following.  “We are extremely proud and excited about this particular group of young ladies.  Not only is their skill off the charts and athleticism through the roof, they are extremely hard working and dedicated to their sport and disciplined in their preparation. They have that unique blend of pride, passion, aptitude and drive that we particularly look for in the student-athletes that we recruit here.  Ultimately, it’s their character that stood out to us more than anything. Great kids hailing from great families.  That will be the driving force to their success here. They are the epitome of what a Herkimer General is, and we are looking forward to them enhancing the culture here within our program and on our campus as a whole!”

 



Briana Hoskins

Washington Township High School, Washington Township, NJ

18u Philadelphia Spirit Gold

 

Briana Hoskins, an outfielder from Washington Township, New Jersey will join the Herkimer General Softball team in the fall of 2018.  Hoskins, will contribute to the General’s defense in the outfield

 

Hoskins, is a 4 time Varsity letter winner and 2 time team captain for Washington Township High School Softball team.  In 2016, Washington Township was the Nation’s #8 overall and New Jersey’s #1 ranked team.  

 

When not on the field, Hoskin has been recognized as;  WTHS People’s Choice Award winner

AFJROTC: Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year winner, American Veterans Diligence Award winner, Outstanding Cadet National Winner, Inductee to Kitty Hawk Honor Society, awarded with the responsibility as 2018 Military Ball Coordinator Position, Positioned as Chief Of Staff.

Hoskins is a member of the Philadelphia Spirit 18U Gold team.  The Philadelphia Spirit has been an ASA Gold National Ranked program for 2014, 2015, 2016.

Briana is the daughter of William & Kelly Hoskins.  Briana has a brother Adam and her dog Koda.  While at Herkimer, Briana will study Liberal Arts and Science







Mariah Galletta

Oswego High School, Oswego, NY

CNY Monsters 18U

 

Mariah Galletta, an infielder from Oswego High School, Oswego New York will join the Herkimer Generals Softball team in the fall of 2018. Galletta will play infield for the Generals

 

Galletta is a 2 time Varsity letterwinner for Oswego High School.  In 2017 and 2016 Galletta was recognized with all league honors.  Galletta is a 3rd year member of the CNY Monsters Softball Program.

 

Mariah is the daughter of Peter and Amy Galletta.  Mariah has two brothers; Brandon and Teyler.  While at Herkimer, Mariah will study Engineering



Alyssa Bolcato

Irondequoit High School, Rochester, NY

Rochester Lady Lions

 

Alyssa Bolcato, a catcher from Rochester, New York will join the Herkimer General Softball team in the fall of 2018.  Bolcato will contribute to the General’s defense behind the plate and on the corners of the infield.

 

Bolcato is a 4 time Varsity letterwinner for Irondequoit High School.  In 2017, Alyssa was recognized as a 1st Team All County softball player and given an Honorable mention for the All Greater Rochester Softball team.  Bolcato is a first year member of the Rochester Lady Lions 18U softball team and also previously played for the Upstate New York Revolution travel softball program

 

When not on the field, Bolcato has been recognized as;  Science Student of the Month, English Student of the Month, a Member of Link Crew and a Member of Tri-M Society.  Bolcato has also been awarded the Faith through Sports Award.

 

Alyssa is the daughter of Tracy Fichter and Stepfather Andy Sillato.  Alyssa has sister Hayden.  While at Herkimer, Alyssa will study Exercise Science and Psychology

 

 

Vanessa Racht

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, Selkirk, New York

Capital Region Reign 18U

 

Vanessa Racht, an infielder from Selkirk, New York will join the Herkimer General Softball team in the fall of 2018.  Racht will contribute to the General’s defense in the infield.

Racht is a four year starter at second base for the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School softball team.   While working back from a significant injury, Vanessa was named to the third team for the 2017 Colonial Council Softball All Stars.

Vanessa is currently a member of the Capital Region Reign 18U travel softball team and previously a member of the East Coast Impact and East Coast Attack travel softball teams.  Vanessa was also invited to train with the Softball Factory in Vero Beach, Florida

Racht is the daughter of Timothy and Loreen Racht, Vanessa has a brother Dominic and a half-brother Jason and half-sister Diana.  While at Herkimer, Vanessa will be studying Criminal Justice.

 

Olivia Kincanon

Lancaster Central High School, Lancaster, NY

New York Inferno 18U

 

Olivia Kincanon, a catcher from Lancaster, New York will join the Herkimer General Softball team in the fall of 2018.  Kincanon will contribute to the General’s defense as a catcher and corner infielder.

 

Kincanon is the Lancaster Central High School starting catcher for the Legend’s 2017 undefeated AA ECIC Championship and #18 ranked NYSSWA Class AA softball team.   Additionally, Kincanon plays travel softball for New York Inferno 18u Select.  In 2017,  as the starting catcher for Inferno’s 16u Showcase team, Olivia helped her team win the 16u Northeast Pony National Championship and finished 2nd at the Columbus World Series.

 

Academically, Olivia carries a 3.74 GPA and is a member of the highly accredited LHS Health Care Academy.  Olivia is interested in pursuing a degree in the Exercise Science and Sports Medicine field.  Olivia volunteers at the Lancaster Youth Bureau and coaches several youth teams at the local YMCA.

Olivia is the daughter of Steve and Julie Kincanon, siblings, Jordan and Isabella,   Step-brothers, Stephen and Scott and grandparents, Jack and Lynn Cox. Also offering their full support is her dog Buster and cat, Boo!

 

 

 

Shelby Koralewski

New Haven High School, Chesterfield, Michigan

 

Shelby Koralewski, an Infielder from Chesterfield, Michigan will join the Herkimer General Softball team in the fall of 2018.  Koralewski will contribute to the General’s defense as an infielder .

 

Koralewski is a 3 time Varsity letterwinner for New Haven High School. In 2017 New Haven High School won their district title for the first time since 1992 and the second time in school history.  Koralewski received All Conference Softball Honors in 2017, 2016 and 2015 and was named to the All District team in 2016

 

Off the field, Koralewski has been recognized as;  William Chenault Jr Scholarship Award Winner and a Varsity Club Member.  Koralewski is an active in her community volunteering in Food Service Centers for those in need, Organization of Community Dinners and serves as a youth softball coach.

 

Shelby is the daughter of Shannon Gross.  While at Herkimer, Shelby will study Criminal Justice





Ashley N Smith

Maryvale High School, Cheektowaga NY

18U Lancaster Heat

 

Ashley Smith, an Infielder from Cheektowaga, NY will join the Herkimer General Softball team in the fall of 2018.  Smith will contribute to the General’s defense as a corner infielder .

 

Smith is a very versatile athlete who has lettered in 5 different varsity sports for Maryville High School.   Smith has been awarded All League Honors in multiple sport over the last two years and is also a 4 time Academic Scholar Athlete.  In the 2016-17 School year, Smith was honored by The Buffalo News as a member of the  2017 All ECIC III Softball Team and Basketball teams

 

In addition to being a very versatile student athlete, Smith was awarded membership to the National Honor Society at Maryvale High School.

 

Ashley is the daughter of Karl and Lisa Smith.  Ashley has three brothers; Tyler, Cory and Scott and Gramma Dot. While at Herkimer, Ashley will study Math /Science



Lauren Horowitz

Washingtonville High School, Rock Tavern, New York

Marlboro Sharks 18U

 

Lauren Horowitz, an infielder from Rock Hill, New York will join the Herkimer Generals Softball team in the fall of 2018. Horowitz will play infield for the Generals

 

Horowitz is a 2 time Varsity letterwinner for Washingtonville High School.  Horowitz is a 2nd year member of the Marlboro Sharks Softball Program and previously played for the Lady Cadets.

 

Lauren is the daughter of Michael Horowitz.  Lauren has two brothers Michael Horowitz and Brady Hanna, two sisters Jessica Brady and Kenleigh Hanna and her Aunt Kelly Hanna.  While at Herkimer, Lauren will study Psychology
