Anadio gets 200th career win in sweep of Lazers

HERKIMER, NY – In their second to last doubleheader of the regular season, the Herkimer Generals softball team swept Onondaga Community College at home on Saturday (5/2), defeating the Lazers 9-1 and 15-5 for Head Softball Coach P.J. Anadio’s 200th career win.

Herkimer (30-7, 10-0) got a no hitter in game one from ace Dana Nicoletti (Syracuse, NY). The freshman allowed two walks in her complete game performance, one of which came around to score in the third inning. That wasn’t it however, as the righty also struck out eight Lazers.

With Nicoletti holding Onondaga at bay, the Generals scored all nine runs in the final four innings, needing a sacrifice by Brittany Ormond (New Paltz, NY) in the sixth to mercy rule the contest. Scoring was freshman Kayla Bancroft (Fort Ann, NY). The infielder had an impressive game, collecting three runs batted in.

Game two saw Ormond start, going two strong innings before Ashley Marshall (Oneida, NY) came in relief. Combined, both players allowed 11 hits, holding Onondaga to no more than two runs in every inning.

Coming through at the plate in game two was Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, NY). The freshman hit two home runs in the game, helping her collect four runs batted in. One RBI behind Daniels was Elyssa LeBaron (Corning, NY) with three. Both freshman went 2-for-4 in the game.
