PLATTSBURGH, NY – In their third doubleheader of the week, the #2 Herkimer General softball team didn’t miss a beat, scoring 48 runs off of 37 hits, cruising to a 26-1 and 22-0 sweep of Clinton Community College on the road Sunday (4/17).

Herkimer (19-4, 7-0) hit multiple home runs in each game, four in game one and six in game two. Leading the way with three was Elyssa LeBaron (Corning, NY). The sophomore went 5-for-8 in the doubleheader with five runs driven in. Behind her with two was Shannon McCann (Horseheads, NY) and Jacqueline Gardner (Syracuse, NY). McCann went 6-for-8 with eight RBI in the doubleheader while Gardener only played in the second game, going 2-for-4 with seven RBI. Both were season-highs for each player.

Getting the final three home runs was Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, NY), Hannah Desino (Pittsford, NY) and Bailee Haddad (Frankfort, NY). Daniels and Desino both went yard in game one. Each went 2-for-5 with five runs driven in each. Haddad hit her first home run as a General in game two, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Pitching for the Generals against the Cougars was Dana Nicoletti (Syracuse, NY), Casey Boltersdorf (Levittown, PA) and Ashley Marshall (Oneida, NY). Nicoletti got the start in game one, throwing 3 2/3 before Marshall came in relief. Nicoletti got her eighth win of the season (8-0), only allowing one run from one hit. Marshall didn’t allow a hit in her appearance, going 1 1/3 with two strikeouts.

Boltersdorf then had her best performance of the season, throwing a no hitter in her 10th appearance of the season. The freshman tied a season-high of nine strikeouts as well, going five strong innings without a hit given up for her sixth win (6-1). The team came one error away from getting Boltersdorf a perfect game.

The team will look to keep its eight-game win streak intact when they travel to play Onondaga Community College on Tuesday (4/19). The Lazers are 15-11 and 6-2 at home on the season. Game times for the doubleheader are 3 and 5 p.m.
