LeBaron walk off leads to sixth straight series sweep Saturday

(Elyssa LeBaron drives in the winning run in game one with a single to left field, scoring Taylor Fry).

(Taylor Daniels ties the game at 5-5 with a two RBI double in the seventh inning against Genesee at home).

HERKIMER, NY – Scoring five runs in their final two innings of game one, the #2 Herkimer Generals softball team rallied for their 11th straight win over Genesee at home on Saturday (4/23), coming up with the sweep over the Cougars with 6-5 and 12-1 victories.

Herkimer (23-4, 7-0) looked all but out of it until Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, NY) drove in Elyssa LeBaron (Corning, NY) and Dana Nicoletti (Syracuse, NY) to give the Generals a four-run seventh inning. It tied the game at 5-5, needing another inning to find a winner.

LeBaron got the walk off single in the eighth with the bases loaded and two outs already tallied. The sophomore ripped a hit to left field, scoring Taylor Fry (Gasport, NY) for the win. Of the five runs batted in during the first game, Daniels had three and LeBaron had two.

The heroics from game one then carried into game two, watching the Generals score in every inning but one, amassing 16 hits and 12 runs. It helped starter Casey Boltersdorf (Levittown, PA) to her eighth win of the season, allowing one earned run her appearance.

Joining Daniels, who led the team with three RBI in game two, with runs batted in were Jacqueline Gardner (Syracuse, NY), Sydney Cimini (Syracuse, NY), Lindey Parese (Herkimer, NY), Georgie Super (Poughkeepsie, NY) and Lacy Nealy (Montrose, PA). Garder, Cimini and Parese all had two RBI while Super and NEaly had one.
