HERKIMER, NY – Hosting their first conference opponent at home in 14 days, the #2 Herkimer Generals softball team remained undefeated against the Mountain Valley Conference, defeating Fulton-Montgomery 15-0 and 22-0.

Herkimer (27-4, 9-0) shortened each game Thursday (4/28) to five innings, beating the Raiders by eight runs or more to force a mercy rule. Holding Fulton-Montgomery’s bats to just three hits in the doubleheader was Jacqueline Gardner (Syracuse, NY) and Amy Hart (St. Johnsville, NY). Gardner allowed one hit and Hart allowed two, watching Gardner strike out seven to Hart’s 10. It helped each right-hander to a complete game victory. Both now have four wins on the season.

As for the offense, the team tied its second highest home run total in a doubleheader, amassing six. Molly McGuire (Solvay, NY) had three, Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, NY) had two and Lacy Nealy (Montrose, PA) had one. It helped McGuire to six runs batted in, Daniels to seven runs batted in and Nealy to two runs batted in.

Other Generals with multiple RBI were Dana Nicoletti (Syracuse, NY), Cimini, Gardner, Hannah Desino (Pittsford, NY) and Elyssa LeBaron (Corning, NY). Nicoletti had six RBI (5-for-8), Cimini had four (5-for-7), Gardner had three (4-for-4) and both Desino (2-for-3) and LeBaron had two (3-for-6).
