#2 Softball falls to #1 Rock Valley in national tournament game

ROCHESTER, MN – Allowing six runs in the fifth inning of Friday’s (5/20) NJCAA D3 National Semifinal game at McQuillan Sports Complex in Rochester, MN – the #2 Herkimer Generals softball team lost to #1 Rock Valley, snapping an 11-game win streak in the process.

Herkimer (45-6, 13-0) captured the first lead of the game on an Arainna Brone (Rochester, NY) run batted in, but then allowed six runs in the bottom of the inning, watching starter Dana Nicoletti (Syracuse, NY) allow four earned runs in 5 1/3 with two home runs against her. She tried to make up for it at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI but the team was unable to come back.

Up next for Herkimer is #5 Onondaga. They’ve already beat the Lazers 10-3 and 4-0 back in April on the road. Saturday’s game is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST on field #5.
