Generals drop both games of doubleheader to Hurricanes

LOUISBURG, NC – In their first doubleheader of the season, the #2 Herkimer Generals traveled to face DI Louisburg College on Friday (3/11), losing to the Hurricanes 7-2 and 4-0.

Taking the mound in game one was Jacqueline Gardner (Syracuse, NY). The freshman pitched the entire game, but allowed seven runs off of seven hits. It helped Louisburg score in every inning but the seventh.

Supplying offense in the first game was Lindsey Parese (Herkimer, NY) and Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, NY). Both sophomores combined for three hits. A double by Parese in the fifth scored Dana Nicoletti (Syracuse, NY) and Courtney Morton (Whitesboro, NY), while Daniels hit her first home run of the season in the sixth, also tallying her first run batted in, dropping the deficit to 7-3.

In game two Casey Boltersdorf (Levittown, PA) got the start. The freshman pitched well, throwing six strong innings, not allowing an earned run in the game. However the Hurricanes did score four runs off of six hits and four Generals errors.

Getting hits in game two were Elyssa LeBaron (Corning, NY), Nicoletti, Daniels and Parese.

Herkimer’s next doubleheader is Sunday (3/13). They’ll face Mohawk Valley and Delaware Technical at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in the Snowbird Softball Tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC.
