Win streak at six games, includes win over #4 Brookdale

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Playing in their third straight doubleheader in the past three days didn’t faze the #2 Herkimer Generals softball team as they collected their sixth consecutive win on Wednesday (3/15), defeating #4 Brookdale 7-1 and Southeastern Illinois 9-0.

Herkimer (6-2) got two more great starts from Dana Nicoletti (Syracuse, NY) and Casey Boltersdorf (Levittown, PA). Nicoletti threw a complete game, spanning seven innings in game one, only allowing one earned run off of two hits. It earned the sophomore her second win of the season, striking out a season-high 11 batters in the process. As for Boltersdorf, she too threw a complete game, only needing five innings to do so against the Falcons, getting her second shutout of the season while allowing only two hits.

Offensively in game one, Herkimer tallied 11 hits against the Jersey Blues. Getting multiple hits was Elyssa LeBaron (Corning, NY), Nicoletti, Hannah Desino (Pittsford, NY) and Sydney Cimini (Syracuse, NY). Nicoletti and Daniels did most of the damage with their hits, collecting two runs batted in each.

In game two, LeBaron and Nicoletti both drove in three runs, totaling six RBI off of three hits. Each athlete had extra base hits. LeBaron hit her third home run of the season, while Nicoletti got her first triple.
