Win streak at nine after softball defeats Falcons 3-0

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Showing no sign of running out of gas, the #2 Herkimer Generals softball team played their ninth game in five days and defeated Southeastern Illinois for the second time 3-0 Thursday (3/17), getting their ninth consecutive win of the season in the process.

Herkimer relied heavily on sophomore Dana Nicoletti (Syracuse, NY) to give the Falcons their second loss of the season. The right-hander threw her first shutout of the season, allowing only three hits in seven innings of work for her third win of the season, going the distance in her last two starts for Herkimer.

Supplying the offense for the Generals via the long ball was Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, NY) and Arainna Brone (Rochester, NY). Daniels hit her second, while Brone hit her first, giving Herkimer nine home runs on the season. Capturing the other RBI was freshman Molly McGuire (Solvay, NY). The infielder has had quite the spring thus far, tallying 15 runs batted in through nine games this season.

Up next for Herkimer is Florence-Darlington Technical. The Stinger are riding a three-game win streak into the Friday (3/18) doubleheader. Game times are 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. EST at the Snowbird Softball Tournament.
