Big day for LeBaron helps softball to 18 straight

HERKIMER, NY – Led by Elyssa LeBaron’s 11 runs batted in during Friday’s (4/29) doubleheader at home, the #2 Herkimer Generals softball team defeated Jefferson 13-3 and 15-3.

Herkimer (29-4, 9-0) saw LeBaron accumulate five RBI in game one, then six in game two, totaling more runs batted in from the top of the lineup than she had in her previous eight games. The infielder finished the day 5-for-8 with five runs scored, two home runs and one triple. LeBaron now has 43 RBI on the season which is top 20 in the nation.

With LeBaron helping the offense to 28 hits in the doubleheader, both Dana Nicoletti (Syracuse, NY) and Casey Boltersdorf (Levittown, PA) provided more consistency in the circle. Nicoletti started game one and only allowed one earned off of four hits. Boltersdorf did the same, only allowing one earned run, giving up two hits through five innings. Both got wins in a complete game effort. Nicoletti is now 11-1 and Bolterdorf is 8-1.

Other offensive threats were Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, NY) and Nicoletti. Daniels went 3-for-3 in game one with four runs batted in. The shortstop now ranks fourth nationally in doubles (18), first in runs batted in (64) and third in slugging percentage (1.053).

As for Nicoletti, she went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in during game two. She ranks 12th nationally in triples (5), 10th in stolen bases (19) and 17th in batting average (.538).

The Generals will host their sixth straight doubleheader on Saturday (4/30) at Herkimer College. The team will put an undefeated conference record on the line when SUNY Adirondack comes to play at 12 and 2 p.m. The Timberwolves are 1-11, losing three of their last four.
