Generals swim well in Wildcat territory

CAZENOVIA, NY – With 18 personal bests and a school record broken Saturday (11/8) at Cazenovia College, both Herkimer Generals men and women finished in third place.

Leading the way for the men was Dean Schrider (Holland Patent, NY) and Anthony Donis (Manhattan, NY). Schrider compiled three Top 3 finishes in the 200 yd. Freestyle, 100 yd. Butterfly and 200 yd. IM, taking his highest spot in the 100, posting a 1:05.48 which was good enough for second place. As for Donis, he finished fourth in both races competed in, posting a 1:27.62 in the 100 yd. Breaststroke and 1:13.92 in the 100 yd. Freestyle.

As for the women, sophomore Erin Hutchison (Macedon, NY) stole the show with a second place finish in the mixed 1000 yd. Freestyle and a third place finish in the 200 yd. IM. Her 13:05.05 broke a school record in the 1000, while her 3:02.78 was a personal best in the 200.

Hutchison then joined Hannah Watts (Norwich, NY), Corrinne Richer (Clinton, NY) and Victoria Bemiss (Canaan, NY) in both the 400 yd. Medley Relay and 400 yd. Freestyle Relay, joining forces for two second place finishes. In the medley the group posted a 5:31.69 while in the freestyle the group posted a 4:48.27.

Also placing well individually was Richer (Clinton, NY). The freshman finished in third place, posting a 2:41.00 in the 200 yd. IM.

Herkimer’s next meet is at home this Saturday November 15th. It’s their only home meet of the season, hosting Jamestown, SUNY Delhi and Genesee at Cristman Pool with a start time of 1 p.m.
