Volleyball sweeps POD

JOHNSTOWN, NY – Gaining some momentum as of late, tallying four consecutive wins, the Herkimer Women's Volleyball team beat Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) 3-0 SUNY Delhi 3-0 and Broome Community College (BCC) 3-1 Sunday in a POD at Fulton-Montgomery Community College Sunday.

Herkimer (8-3) lost only one set against BCC 28-30. It snapped six consecutive set wins over TC3 (25-11, 25-23, 25-11) and SUNY Delhi (25-19, 25-8, 25-9). The Lady Generals rallied to win three more consecutive sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-23) to end the day on a positive note.

Leading the way for the Lady Generals on Sunday was Paola Vazquez-Mora (Troy, NY), Katherine Clarke (Oneida, NY), Ashley Mettler (Oppenheim, NY), Cristen Davis (Castorland, NY), Zara Hyde (Bleecker, NY), Brynn Hlozansky (Johnstown, NY) and Kayla Barber (South Glens Falls, NY). Vazquez-Mora had seven kills, one dig and five blocks; Clarke had eight kills, three digs and six blocks; Mettler had 23 kills and 23 digs; Davis had 35 digs; Hyde had three services aces and 99 assists; Hlozansky had 24 kills, 16 digs, five service aces and three blocks; Barber had 42 kills, 21 digs, 35 assists and seven blocks.

The Lady Generals next match is Wednesday, September 25th. Herkimer will host SUNY Delhi at 6 p.m. in the Varsity Gym. The team will look to take straight sets again, like they did on Sunday against the Broncos.
