ROCHESTER, NY – On Saturday (10/4) the Herkimer Generals women’s volleyball team went 0-3 against Finger Lakes, Corning and Monroe at a POD hosted by Monroe Community College.

Herkimer (2-16, 1-3) has now lost nine consecutive matches. On Saturday play began against Finger Lakes. The Lakers handed the Generals losses in three straight sets 25-12, 25-5 and 25-15. Standing out, like she has all season was Shahadah Williams (Syracuse, NY). The freshman had two kills, two aces, three digs, one assist and one block.

After dropping their 23rd straight set, the Generals won game three against the Red Barons 25-23 in their second match of the POD. Accumulating kills for the team in their four games were Williams, Carolyn Thompson (Hannibal, NY), JaNay Mucitelli (Utica, NY) and Nickee Thibault (Ilion, NY). Williams had three, Thompson had two, Mucitelli had four and Thibault had one.

The third and final match of the day was against the host Monroe. The Tribunes won the first and third sets 25-9 and 25-8, but the Generals came out ready in the second, only losing by two 25-23.

Herkimer’s next match is against Hudson Valley Community College on Wednesday, October 8th. It will be the Generals first match against the Vikings, looking to improve on their current 1-3 Mountain Valley Conference record. Play between both teams is scheduled for 6 p.m.
