Week ends with Jamestown POD for volleyball

JAMESTOWN, NY – The Herkimer Generals women’s volleyball team traveled for the second straight weekend on Saturday (9/12), this time to Jamestown Community College, losing to the Jayhawks 3-0, Niagara Thunderwolves 3-0 and Erie Kats 3-0.

Herkimer (0-7, 0-1) played well in the first set of every match during the POD. The most the team lost by was nine, 25-16 to Jamestown and Niagara. Their best showing was against Erie, losing 25-21.

The final two sets of each match saw the Generals offense sputter, managing double digit point totals in two of their last six sets. Each of those came against Erie, tallying 13 and 16 points in their final two sets of the POD. Helping the Generals to those totals was Laurice Budd (Liberty, NY), Mackenzie Holbert Sauquoit, NY) and Lindsay Therrien (Johnstown, NY). Combined all three athletes had four service points and 14 kills. Holbert led the group with two service points and seven kills, followed by Budd with one and five and Therrien with one and two.
