Volleyball takes last match of the season over CGCC

HUDSON, NY – Playing their best volleyball as of late, the Herkimer Generals women’s volleyball team defeated Columbia-Greene on Monday (10/26) 3-0, ending the season winning their last three matches.

Herkimer (6-19, 3-4) just faced off against the Twins at Hudson Valley’s POD last weekend, defeating Columbia-Greene in straight sets 25-11, 25-15, 25-15. It wasn’t as easy in Twin country - but nonetheless - the result was the same, taking each set 25-18, 25-20 and 25-23.

It was a collective effort by the team to end the season on a positive note. Seven athletes recorded a kill, led by Luaisha Charles (Middletown, NY) who had a season-high five. Laurice Budd (Liberty, NY) and Lindsay Therrien (Johnstown, NY) followed her with four, Mackenzie Holbert (Sauquoit, NY) and Morgan Catania (Johnstown, NY) had three and Mary Rose Creedon (Little Falls, NY) had two.

Setting up those six for a strong offensive attack was Hilary Hoda (Osaka, Japan) and Zariyah Riggan (Cohoes, NY). Hoda had four assists and six digs while Riggan had eight digs. Not to be forgotten was Holbert, who also added two assists and nine digs.
