Generals play in FMCC POD over the weekend

JOHNSTOWN, NY – Playing in their third POD of the season after hosting last week in the varsity gym, the Herkimer Generals women’s volleyball team went 0-3 against Onondaga, Cayuga and Jamestown at Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

Herkimer (2-12, 1-2) had their best showing against the Spartans, losing two games by a combined nine points. Leading the group in kills against Cayuga was Mackenzie Holbert (Sauquoit, NY). The freshman had seven, along with 11 digs. One behind Holbert in digs was Morgan Catania (Johnstown, NY) with 10. The freshman was also one behind in kills, finishing with five.

Other notable contributors against the Spartans were Laurice Budd (Liberty, NY), Hilary Hoda (Osaka, Japan) and Mary Rose Creedon (Little Falls, NY). Budd had one ace, four kills, one assist, one dig and one block; Hoda had two aces and eight digs; and Creedon had one ace, three kills, and four digs.

The Generals next match is against SUNY Adirondack at home on Wednesday (9/30). The Timberwolves are 7-7 on the season and currently on a two-match win streak. The Generals will host SUNY Adirondack in the varsity gym at 6 p.m. in their fourth Mountain Valley Conference match this season.
