Team effort gets it done against Raiders

JAMESTOWN, NY – Starting the week off on the right foot, before a POD at SUNY Adirondack on Saturday, the women's volleyball team defeated Fulton-Montgomery 3-0 Wednesday afternoon.

Without sophomore leader Kayla Barber (South Glens Falls), the Lady Generals (18-9) needed a team effort. And that's exactly what happened since the Raiders never got within four points of a set win (25-21, 25-20, 25-19).

Helping Herkimer to their 13th match shutout of the season was Cristen Davis (Castorland, NY), Brynn Hlozansky (Johnstown, NY), Zara Hyde (Bleecker, NY), Paola Vazquez-Mora (Troy, NY), Ashley Mettler (Oppenheim, NY), Katherine Clarke (Onedia, NY) and Nicole Thibault (Ilion, NY). Davis finished with 14 digs and 21 assists; Hlozansky finished with 15 kills and 24 digs; Hyde finished with five kills, 10 digs and 12 assists; Vazquez-Mora finished with four kills, five digs and two blocks; Mettler finished with 12 kills, two aces, 13 digs and one block; Clarke finished with two kills and two digs; Thibault finished with two digs.

The Lady Generals next match is this Saturday in Queensbury, NY. SUNY Adirondack will be hosting a POD. Herkimer will face Columbia-Gree, Hudson Valley and SUNY Adirondack. Matches start at 9 a.m.
