Lady Generals take two in weekend POD

QUEENSBURY, NY – With their captain back on the hardwood Saturday at SUNY Adirondack's POD, the Herkimer women's volleyball team took two of three sets 3-0, 3-0, 2-1, beating Columbia-Green Community College (CGCC) and Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC).

The Lady Generals (20-10, 6-2 MVC) are back in a groove, playing sound team offense and defense which has led to a 6-3 record in the teams' last nine matches. Standing out has been the entire team, led by Kayla Barber (South Glens Falls), Cristen Davis(Castorland, NY), Brynn Hlozansky (Johnstown, NY), Zara Hyde (Bleecker, NY), Ashley Mettler (Oppenheim, NY) and Paola Vazquez-Mora (Troy, NY).

Saturday added to the Lady Generals shutouts, which stood at 13 before Saturday. After beating CGCC and VHCC in straight sets, it increased that number to 15.

On Thursday (10/24), Herkimer will play their final regular season match against Columbia-Green, who they just beat 3-0 on Saturday (25-9, 25-3, 25-10). Two days later, the Lady Generals will travel to Fulton-Montgomery Community College for the Mountain Valley Conference (MVC) Championships. A 6-2 MVC record proves that this team has what it takes to win its conference.
