Julie DelMedico has served as the head coach for cross country since 2006. A graduate of Sauquoit Valley High School (2002), DelMedico was a four-sport varsity athlete participating in cross country, soccer, basketball and track and field. She went on to play basketball at SUNY Geneseo.
In addition to cross country, DelMedico served as the assistant coach for Herkimer College's track and field teams, from 2006 until 2011. During that time DelMedico helped develop an individual national champion, Sarah Lazarus, in the 800 and 1,500 meter races (2007). In 2008, she helped coach the women's track and field team to a regional and national championship. That team included two individual champions: Amanda Davy - 400 Hurdles, and Chantal Salamone - 100 Hurdles. In 2010, women’s track and field found success again, winning their second regional and national titles in three years, at which time DelMedico was named female assistant coach of the year. In 2011, senior cross country runner Michael Elleman earned all-region honors, and the team earned honorable mention for the Academic Team of the Year. In 2012, cross country runner Heather Vroman won the Mountain Valley Conference meet.
DelMedico holds a B.A. from SUNY Geneseo (2006) and an M.S. from SUNYIT (2013). In addition to her coaching duties, she is employed as the Academic Coach in the College's Academic Support Center and is an adjunct professor in sociology, psychology and non-majors’ physical education.
