Dan Stalteri joined the Herkimer Softball staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2010. He had been a consulting assistant to Head Coach PJ Anadio during the 2010 spring season. That changed in 2014 after the program won their first national championship, given associate head coach as a new title, also serving as hitting and infield coach to round out the duties.
Stalteri adds over 15 years of softball coaching experience to the staff and is currently the Head Varsity Softball Coach at Herkimer High School. He has served as the head coach since 2011 and was the varsity assistant coach the three previous seasons. In his first season at the helm in Herkimer his Magicians went to the NY State Section III, Class “C” finals, and in 2012 finished with a record of 20-2 capturing a CSC-Division II Title and a #1 seed in Sectional playoffs. Dan has also coached at the JV, and modified levels. He rounds out his coaching resume as the Herkimer U16 and U18 summer softball coach, having served in these positions for the past 11 seasons. He has also been the president of the Herkimer Girls Softball League from 2005 to 2010.
Coach Stalteri graduated from Herkimer High in 1983, having played three seasons of varsity baseball. His teams won two divisional championships and a Section III title. He has an associate degree from Herkimer College and a bachelor’s degree from Utica College of Syracuse University. Dan is employed by Hummel’s Office Equipment Company as the Vice President of Furniture.
Coach Stalteri resides in Herkimer, NY with his wife Marianne. He is also the proud father of two daughters, both former softball players: Kahley who is a graduate of St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY and Emily who is currently attending Mohawk Valley Community College for Nursing.
