Herkimer College alum Katie Scanlon is in her third season as head coach of the Men’s Tennis program in 2017. Scanlon has seven years of coaching experience with the Generals between both tennis teams, leading the women's program to consecutive Region III Championships in 2010 and 2011, and a NJCAA DIII National Tournament appearance in 2010 and 2011. The 2010 season resulted in a program’s best finish, fourth place, then followed in 2011 with a seventh place finish.
Under Scanlon’s leadership, Herkimer has celebrated two Region III Championships (10 & 11), two Mountain Valley Conference Championships (10 & 11), 13 individual Region III Champions, one individual National runner up, one second team All-American and two Region III Coach of the Year honors.
As a student, Scanlon won two consecutive individual Region III titles in second singles and was named 2001 Female Athlete of the Year for her accomplishments on the tennis court and softball field.
Upon graduation from Herkimer, Scanlon transferred to SUNY Plattsburgh where she competed at the first singles and first doubles flight, earning a Doubles SUNYAC Championship in 2001.
Scanlon is currently employed by Herkimer College as an Advisement Center Specialist. She resides in Little Falls, NY with her husband Cory and two sons Myles and Everett.
