Jake Haney will enter his third full season as a member of the Herkimer Generals softball coaching staff in 2017. As primarily the pitching coach, Jake has helped lead the pitching staff to become one of the very best in the nation. Haney has developed two All-American pitchers during his short time at Herkimer, as well as finishing tops in the nation in many major statistical categories. Herkimer pitchers over the last two seasons have a combined 2.29 ERA which ranks second overall, as well as 33 shutouts which is tops in the nation.
Coach Haney comes to Herkimer with over 17 years of men’s fastpitch softball experience where he competed in the Northern Fastpitch League, as well as high level tournaments all across the northeast. Jake began playing softball at the age of 16, and started pitching at the age of 21 where he received instruction from some of the most decorated softball players in the game.
Jake is also the Night Shift Supervisor of the Physical Education Building at Herkimer College, but also performs numerous other duties for the athletic department as needed.
Haney resides in Utica, NY where he is also a part-time private pitching instructor, with athletes ranging in age of 10-18.
